FOUNDATION HORSE

Chief Pushmataha (IBHR 2) came from Oklahoma, but his ancestors go back to the Nez Perce horses, taken to Oklahoma by a few of the Nez Perce who branched off from the infamous pursuit of Chief Joseph and his people.

Chief was a terrific endurance horse - regularly ran a 30 mile course up and down the rocks and hills of the American River Canyon, just as an afternoon ride.
